Whether you’re an established business or just starting out, making the right finance plans is crucial. You need an outsourced finance director that’s knowledgeable, skilled and truly understands how to build your business by analysing your numbers.
Bringing someone new into your team is a big step, so a strong working relationship is invaluable. At Not Just an FD, we provide you with more than just an evaluation of your numbers. We’ll share our advice and experience, listen to your ideas and guide you to achieve your goals. Integrity is key, so we chat to you openly and honestly whilst overseeing your finances with complete confidentiality.
With experienced finance director Julie Bickerdyke leading our team, we work closely with our sister company, Not Just Numbers. Together, we can share our advice and expertise to support you as you plan all aspects of your financial future. Our close partnership with Not Just Numbers adds value to you, allowing us to offer bookkeeping and end of year accounts through their office team if required. We are also happy to work with your current accountant and have excellent relationships with several practices.
Money matters can be stressful. As well as technical advice, you can count on us for emotional support when you need it. Your mental health and wellbeing are crucial, so we emphasise the importance of self-care for both you and your team. Making your work and home life fun and treating others with the care they deserve is vital, and we promote peaceful, considerate working relationships whilst always being respectful of your time. After all, we’re here to make your life easier.
I’m Julie, founder and MD at Not Just an FD.
My number one job is to listen to you; I want to understand you, your values and your aspirations, and then your business. As a CIMA-qualified finance director, I analyse your finances to help your business grow sustainably. I help you to understand your numbers to meet KPIs, prepare realistic forecasts and maximise your profits in line with your goals.
I’ve worked across multiple sectors over the past 20 years, from manufacturing and legal to third sector and not for profit. Some of my clients are local, registered charities, from whom I prepare and present finance reports and support funding applications. Others have multi-million-pound turnovers and I implement risk management systems and turnaround underperforming teams. I’m also the secretary of the CIMA Members in Practice Panel, providing UK-wide support as well as a point of contact for members in Yorkshire and the North East. I’ve worked with CIMA to feed into Treasury how to better help small businesses during the COVID-19 crisis.
Taking care of our mental health and wellbeing is incredibly important to me. Naturally, peace of mind over your finances takes away significant stress, which is an essential part of the work I do. I support clients working in mental health, as well as actively encouraging those I work with to take time for themselves. I’m proud to be associated with businesses who are mindful employers and pro-actively look after the mental health of their staff. I try to lead by example: I love my work, but I take time for Yoga and Pilates classes, running, socialising and unwinding with a jigsaw or book.
I’m Debbie, founder and director at Not Just an FD, and founder and MD at Not Just Numbers.
I’m a CIMA-qualified finance director, systems geek and a Xero Gold champion accountant, which means I’m identified as an official expert at all-things Xero. I help you look beyond your numbers to streamline processes, systems and finances that have real impact on business growth.
I launched Not Just Numbers in 2011. My team and I work with companies of all shapes and sizes; however, it’s primarily with SMEs where we know we can make the greatest change and offer the most support to develop businesses. Of course, we need to know your facts and figures, but it’s your ideas we really love to hear; with them, we know just how we can help get you to your goals.
As Not Just an FD’s sister company, we work closely with Julie to support you with all aspects of your finances. Our shared skills and expertise tackle everything from day-to-day bookkeeping to planning exit strategies and all the accountancy in between.
Outside work, you’ll find me in the fields with my beloved horse, Patrick, or riding passenger on cross-country motorbike trips with my husband.
